Gain Capital Holdings, with local VC backing, floats IPO

Bedminister, NJ based Gain Capital Holdings, which provides a foreign exchange trading platform, went public earlier this week at $9 per share, well below the $13 to $15 per share range initially anticipated. Two area VC firms had invested in Gain; Edison Ventures of Lawrenceville, NJ, which reports an 18x return on its shares sold in the offering (pdf), and Cross Atlantic Capital Partners of Radnor.

Gain Capital shares closed yesterday at $8.65.
