Comcast To Use Invidi

Comcast is planning to deploy Invidi's advertising targeting system to 100,000 homes in Baltimore by June. Heavily financed Invidi, based in Princeton, allows television ads to be targeted to individual households, which is kind of scary. It is the first major rollout of Invidi's technology that I am aware of.

Not particularly good news for TruePosition of Berwyn, I would think. One of their main selling points is that their cell tower triangulation method is more precisely accurate than GPS. My guess is that E911 systems of the future will be mostly a hybrid of the two. The DC Appeals Court, in citing "procedural irregularities" in the FCC proceedings, may raise further questions about FCC Commissioner Kevin Martin's competency or fairness.

There are also phrases and acronyms that people use to refer to these things in shorthand. I know it can be confusing to people who are generalists (as I am) or specialize in certain areas, so I thought I'd build a little glossary of terms that seem to be most important here.
