Following Comcast press conference. The main message, repeated over and over again by all, is "Cable Channels".

Philadelphia Inquirer:

"Roberts said a Comcast-NBC Universal merger would make the Philadelphia company 'strategically complete' and that investors should view Comcast as two distinct companies: cable-TV and broadband distribution, and entertainment."

I think that comment reflects an inherent conflict in logic.

My own concern is that though this deal may ultimately be approved, Washington will impose so many conditions and restrictions upon Comcast that it will not have the ability to manage its businesses in a strategically responsive manner.

GE, Vivendi reach tentative deal on NBCU

GE, Vivendi agree to value NBCU stake at $5.8 billion (Reuters)

At $5.8 billion for 20%, that's less than the $30 billion that GE and Comcast agreed to value the entire company at. I assumed
Vivendi would get some kind of premium. My guess is that there are some other considerations involved.
