One of my goals here is to provide not just a blog or news source, but a collection of information tools that will hopefully be useful to you on an ongoing basis. My newest addition to that collection is the Philly Tech Startup Map.

Building this was actually more difficult than one might think because the Google Maps editing function is not quite ready for prime time-it was kind of a nightmare to get very simple things finished. Had I known this, I might have used MapQuest or another alternative but once I was too far into it I decided to finish it in Google.
The startups shown are a pretty good representation of the best of what is going on in the area, though by no means conclusive. I am sure I will be editing this and adding to it over time. My primary focus right now is on data quality rather than greater breadth. I know addresses and other info can change so please let me know if there is any thing that needs updating. Some companies have multiple locations in the area, though I think that in every case I tried to use what I understood from their website to be their headquarters address.
If you have any ideas of what I could add to this, please let me know at phillytechnews@gmail.com

IDS Scheer may be up for sale -magazine (Reuters)
IDS Scheers's US headquarters are in Berwyn.
I have to wonder why IDS Scheer's business model doesn't produce more profitability, since it has unique propriety tools which
most other vendors need to use for Business Process Modeling (BPM).
If this does come to pass, SAP would be the most likely partner, given their close historical relationship with Scheer and the tight integration with their products. However, Microsoft, Oracle and others can't be ruled out.
